Long overdue, but here at last are my notes about Europython...

Overall I think it was a good conference and I learned some useful
information and met interesting people that may be useful contacts in
the future. For me the eye opening thing was Python on the phone, and
the mobile technology in Europe in general - having spent the last five
years in the US seems like eternity and the US is lacking in some ways.

I also learned of some calendar projects we should take a look at.

There were maybe 300 people attending the conference, slightly less than
last year. The organizers had mostly done a good job, but there were
some problems with wireless, power, and communication overall.

I gave the Chandler presentation on the first day of the conference. I
was unable to give a Chandler demo - my Open Office did not want to
display slides on the projector, so I had to use a laptop provided. Also
my wireless did not work in the lecture halls so I would not have been
able to demo the network stuff either. So that part was limited to a
screenshot and explaining the aspects of the UI and what the buttons
etc. would do. Otherwise I think the presentation went fine, and at
least one person later came to get a private Chandler demo. I didn't
count the attendance, but maybe 20-30 were present, which seemed to be
slightly less than average (there were lots of tracks so occasionally
you missed a presentation you would have wanted to see).

I also attended Andi's PyLucene presentation, and there were probably
more people attending that presentation. There were a fair number of
questions asked as well, so it seems like this piece is quite appreciated.

I run an M2Crypto sprint, but it turned out I was the only active
participant. I got a lot of stuff done, but didn't quite get to a stage
where I would like to announce the next M2Crypto release. So that has to
wait a little longer.

Finally, the organizers made a plea that people donate to the Python
Software Foundation. Don't take Python for granted. Help it along. If
every Python developer sent a dollar a year to the foundation it would
have a sizeable budget to improve Python for all of us.
