Until 2.4.2 becomes the norm (or we drop the older linux distros from the supported list) we will still build python.
What Andi has done is removed the last "solid" reason for use to build a custom Python - all of the remaining issues will be removed piece by piece as I chew thru my 0.7 tasks.
