FWIW, I ran the full test suites before I uploaded the
Debian packages for 1.9.  I did not see this problem either.

    PyLucene 1.9, gcj 3.4.4, Python 2.4.1, SWIG 1.3.34
    Debian Sarge on i386, amd64, and powerpc
