Hi Paimon community,

The Paimon community has made substantial and impressive progress on
full-text and vector indexing capabilities recently. Thank you to everyone
who has contributed to this work.

On the Apache Doris side, we are working to enable full-text retrieval and
vector search over Paimon tables through Doris external tables. These
capabilities are required by real production use cases, and we need an
official Paimon Java release containing the latest indexing functionality
to move the Doris-on-Paimon integration and production validation forward.

The latest official Paimon release is currently 2.0.0, while the master
branch is using 2.1-SNAPSHOT. Would the community consider preparing a
Paimon 2.1.0 release and, if feasible, making it available before September
15, 2026?

An earlier release would be very helpful for our Doris development schedule
and would allow us to validate these capabilities in real production
environments.

Please let us know whether this timeline would be feasible and whether
there are any release blockers we could help address. We would be happy to
test the release candidate, verify the relevant functionality, and provide
feedback from the Doris integration.

Thanks for your consideration.

Best regards,
Gabriel
