Hi everyone,

I'd like to start a discussion about releasing Apache Paimon C++ 0.4.0.

Since the 0.3.0 release, the community has merged around 180 pull requests
into the 0.4 release line. This release adds the following major new
capabilities:

- REST catalog support, including DLF authentication, commit leases,
branches, and temporary data-access credentials

- Real-time data reads, commit retries and metrics, and input, lookup, and
full-compaction changelog producers for append and primary key tables

- Lance and Mosaic file formats, plus format table reads and writes over
Parquet and ORC

- OSS file system support, alongside local and Jindo

- Global index extensions: bitmap indexes, Lumina build checkpoints, and
full-text search

- Vector and blob storage extensions, including ARRAY<BLOB> and MAP<K,
BLOB> support and a public BlobDescriptor API

- Bitmap64 deletion vectors

- Map shared shredding: a storage layout for MAP<STRING, T> columns with
configurable physical columns, an overflow map, and key projection during
reads

- Read performance improvements: read-ahead and block caches, late
materialization, cross-file warmup, and parallel reader construction

Many thanks to all contributors who proposed, reviewed, and merged changes
in this release line, as well as everyone who helped with testing and
discussion in the community.

I would like to volunteer as the release manager for this release.

Please share any concerns, blockers, or changes that should be included
before the release. If the community reaches consensus and no blockers are
identified, I plan to begin preparing the first release candidate in the
next few days.

Best regards,

Yonghao Fang
