In the interest of parsimonious development, I propose to settle (for now) for
periodically syncing {{parquet.thrift}} with upstream parquet-format and
automatically generate the Thrift bindings as part of the build process (as
described in PARQUET-468) rather than checking in the generated bindings (which
may indeed by Thrift version-dependent as we've seen).
