Gabor Szadovszky resolved PARQUET-1379.

Resolution: Not A Problem
The check of ASCENDING/DESCENDING order is used when building a column index in
the write path. Column index is built using {{Statistics}} objects where {{min
<= max}} is guaranteed so no additional check is required when building column
indexes.
