ImageToPDF.createPDFFromImage causes problems for certain TIFF inputs

I try to create a PDF for a given TIFF image while trying
ImageToPDF imageToPDF = new ImageToPDF();
imageToPDF.createPDFFromImage("c:\\tmp\\myDocument.pdf",
"c:\\tmp\\myImage.tif");
Problem: Acrobat Reader (Version 9.3.4) cannot display the generated file
myDocument.pdf
The error message shown by Acrobat Reader says that there is "insufficient data
for an image" (in German: "Nicht genügend Daten für ein Bild")
