I'm already thinking about bundling a set of fonts to be able to replace
problematic/missing fonts. This would also include PDFBOX-1701.
The Bitstream [1] or DejaVu-fonts [2] maybe possible candidates, but we have to
check the license first (shouldn't be a problem) and I'm not sure if those
packages contain a symbol font.
