John Hewson resolved PDFBOX-1955.

Resolution: Fixed
Using Java's ColorConvertOp with built0in {{ColorSpace.CS_GRAY}} output is
different from what I would have expected, the conversion itself is not
documented so it's hard to tell why this is happening. I've fixed this in
revision 1580321 by just performing the color conversion manually.
