Tilman Hausherr commented on PDFBOX-332:
----------------------------------------

It might be possible to add the insertion of existing JBIG2 files like we
already do for JPEG files, i.e. we would insert the encoded file into the
stream. A temporary decoding would be done to get the size.

This issue had no watcher and no vote yesterday, the original wish was from
anonymous, so I don't see a need now.

What we can't do is to add the encoding of JBIG2 files, i.e. take an existing
b/w image, and encode it in JBIG2 compression, because there is no free java
encoder available. IMHO, JBIG2 encoding is a dead-end since the [2013 Xerox
disaster|http://www.dkriesel.com/en/blog/2013/0802_xerox-workcentres_are_switching_written_numbers_when_scanning].
