I think something might be wrong with your build/environment, the file from
PDFBOX-1718.pdf doesn't even contain Type 1 fonts (and the fonts it has are
embedded anyway), the PDType1Font constructor should never even be called. I've
debugged both files on my system and I never get any PDType1Font instances.
