Tilman Hausherr closed PDFBOX-2514.
-----------------------------------
    Resolution: Duplicate

Yes this is a known problem with embeded type 1 fonts and more, that won't be
fixed in 1.8. The good news is that it renders nicely in the unreleased 2.0
version. I don't know when this will be released, but you can try it if you
know how to use maven and svn (or get a snapshot of the command line app
https://repository.apache.org/content/groups/snapshots/org/apache/pdfbox/pdfbox-app/2.0.0-SNAPSHOT/
). See also https://pdfbox.apache.org/downloads.html#scm and feel free to ask
on the user mailing list. Good luck!
