Sure thing, as you say we can get rid of PDColor.DEVICE_GRAY_BLACK and also
EMPTY_PATTERN. Not sure what you think is mysterious about the initial color in
PDDeviceGray vs. DeviceRGB, they're both black - one has 1 component, and the
other 3.
