It's not really a convention, and no, it doesn't have to be free of warnings.
But I'd say that many of the SonarQube warnings make the code better, simpler.
No need to post a patch, Andreas already fixed most or all of it (we'll know
tomorrow). My personal experience with SonarQube is that I don't agree with all
warnings (the "dead stores" make sense, they're a bit like a comment), but the
ones I agree with help making cleaner code. And this makes it easier for "total
strangers" to understand it and improve it.
