BouncyCastle latest release is 1.53 released on Oct 10, 2015 -

AFAIK, bouncycastle in 2.0.0-rc1 seems like is at 1.49 which is a release from
late 2013. (from release notes)
2.0.0 release of bouncy castle will hopefully upgrade to the latest version
