Resolution: Duplicate
Yes, this worked in the past, in rev 1633496. We lost the capability to render
some PDFs with transparency groups and softmasks in PDFBOX-2423, altough some
PDFs where it didn't work before now do render. The issue for this is
PDFBOX-3000. I'm adding your file to my test set.
