Tilman Hausherr commented on PDFBOX-3058:
-----------------------------------------
1.8 has 26621742 common english words
2.0 has 26808357 common english words
so we're 0,7% better now.
Reasons for files where we are not better:
- files without unicode that did extract in 1.8 (but didn't with Adobe Reader!)
- i.e. an average user can't expect this to be extracted
- exceptions
- rotated text (2.0 doesn't extract rotated text well)
- isolated cases where the metadata of fonts isn't good
- other files on my todo list
But unlike the first test, I haven't found anything where I had the impression
that it applies to many files.

> This issue is to track fixing issues which came up as part of TIKA-1285
> (Upgrade to PDFBox 2.0.0 when available) mainly
> - new exceptions compared to PDFBox 1.8.x
> - regressions in text extraction
> - lower quality text extraction
> There should be individual issues to track tasks/bugs arising from that.
