BFortin commented on PDFBOX-3377:
---------------------------------

We are experiencing the same issue on AIX 7.1.0.0 (7100-03-05-1524). Our WAS
servers are leaking threads every time this issue occurs.

AIX does come with a few non-font files under
/usr/X11R6/lib/X11/fonts/TrueType/, such as the one mentioned previously by
[~gerosyab] (i.e. fonts.alias.ttf).

These files are owned by AIX and are there by default, so deleting them or
moving them is not a clean work-around, as it might cause issues with other
applications. Also, I guess that patching the OS later down the line might copy
back the files to their original location.

Shouldn't PDFBox validate the actual content of the file before trying to load
it (ref.
http://stackoverflow.com/questions/2729038/is-there-a-java-library-equivalent-to-file-command-in-unix)
and/or skip the file if it's not a valid font file?

> font caching never stops in AIX
