Please update to the current 1.8.* version, which is 1.8.12 (or better: 2.0.2,
see the migration guide at https://pdfbox.apache.org/2.0/migration.html ). If
it still happens, then post some short code and a PDF that produce the effect.
1.8.2 is from June 2013, so it took you three years to even notice the bug.
That's hardly "critical".
