Maruan Sahyoun commented on PDFBOX-3618:
----------------------------------------

Thanks for the feedback. I'm hesitant to include the link to the font though as
this could be interpreted wrongly. Many font's are allowed to be embedded so
advertising a special font from a special download location communicates a
restriction which is not there. I'll include some additional hint that you need
to ensure that the license permits embedding. I also think that in this special
case it shouldn't be made to easy for the user of the library as font embedding
and licensing is an important topic one needs to be aware of.

> PDType1Font.java has a predefined list of fonts like Times-Roman, Helvetica,
> Courier, Symbol and ZapfDingbats.
> When creating a pdf/A, the font is embedded and not taken from the reader's
> operating system.
> As per https://de.wikipedia.org/wiki/Helvetica_(Schriftart) , this may lead
> to a licensing issue.
> Suggestions:
> 1) Use a free font such as
> https://de.wikipedia.org/wiki/Nimbus_Sans_L instead
> 2) at least warn in JavaDoc about the issue
> Or is it an non-issue?
