the -Dorg.apache.pdfbox.rendering.UsePureJavaCMYKConversion=true is
really a life saver. On a Linux box with Noveau open source graphics
driver rendering a single journal page with an image consisting of a
large number of small images drops from 120sec (OpenJDK 7) or 90sec
(OpenJDK 8) down to 4-5sec. For single image pages a slowdown of up to
50% was perceived (using
-Dsun.java2d.cmm=sun.java2d.cmm.kcms.KcmsServiceProvider did not make a
difference).
