[~scoldwell] I've started working on the issue but unfortunately it's not easy
to resolve it as the text formatter currently provides no information about the
formatted text bounding box. I have a working version based on trunk but would
like to do some refactoring first as otherwise the code gets even more
cluttered than it is now. So please be patient.
