Please mention the version, and check that the file isn't empty, and that
you're really accessing the correct file. A PDF typically looks like this:

%PDF-1.6
%âãÏÓ
{code}
It starts with "%PDF-" and then the version, and on the next line "%" and a few
"unprintable" characters.
