Thanks, now I see it... That too is a result of that bug.
To see the image in the PDF displayed by java, start PDFDebugger and go to
{{Root/Pages/Kids/[0]/Resources/XObject/ImagePart_3555, and there's the same
effect.}}
I extracted the image and displayed it with IrfanView and it looks OK. You can
try loading the image with ImageIO and then saving as PNG and you'll see the
same effect.
