Resolution: Won't Do
There isn't any (except changing the content stream directly) and there won't
be, because it is so extremely complex. PDF is not like HTML, sadly. See also

The nasty truth is that PDF isn't made for editing. There may be commercial
products, e.g. by PDF-Tools or Callas or others.
