s/<=/</, 5.6.1 is where I found it.  If you read through that version
with the mantra "the perlish part of this is all changing", then it
gives a nice overview of the various issues with MT.

Odd, I see it in pod/perlthrtut.pod in 5.7.2 I rsynced last week:

some rsync oddity, I guess...
