Hrm, I have looked into it, and the problem is not to figure out if the system is IPv6 or IPv4 by default, but we also need to check if there is support for IPv4 mapped addresses.
At this point, I wasn't able to find a way to figure it out dynamically. It sure would be nicer if we could just "figure it out"
But will your change deterministically work with both?
Also addresses the problematic and annoying warning about DL_GLOBAL in DynaLoader.
