I agree with you in theory, but the only problem I see here is that there are at least two shops I know of that still use 5.6.1. Worse, they use patched versions of 5.6.1, so that is the main reason keeping them from upgrading.

However, I think that it is reasonable to stop supporting perl 5.6.1. If shops like that are going to upgrade mod_perl and not expect to upgrade 5.6.1 to 5.6.2, the patch route is always available.


We can keep 5.6.2 for now.

I have to jump through a large number of hoops to compile perl on freebsd 7/8
(aside from the gnu core utils bug which I don't have)
