[~jmahonin] - you might try running a major compaction as that'll generate
stats as well.
[~maryannxue] - any luck repro-ing? Maybe it's best if we just commit your
potential fix as it won't do any harm. One corner case is when the region
boundary cache is detected to be out of date due to a split - maybe this issue
is triggered then?
