Agreed [~jamestaylor], I'll split this patch and commit in two iterations. 

However, current patch also does not bring everything in memory for every type 
of query, it does so only when sort is requested on un-ordered attribute, where 
sorting can be done only when all tuples are available at client whereas for 
all other queries it falls back to original implementation.
