[~giacomotaylor] where/how is COUNT(DISTINCT ...) compiled?
I find that COUNT(DISTINCT...) does not benefit from this (takes minutes)
whereas SELECT COUNT(*) FROM (SELECT DISTINCT ...) does (takes a few ms).
Looks like COUNT(DISTINCT...) is compiled to a completely different plan.
