Good point, but I don't think the essential column family feature works when 
you use a FilterList. Can you work around this?

It's likely safest to not use the filter when there are multiple column 
families though. I suppose it depends on how many KV columns are in the CF. Not 
sure we want to try to be too smart. [~lhofhansl], what do you think?
