https://issues.apache.org/jira/browse/PIG-2167 is the parent jira. https://issues.apache.org/jira/browse/PIG-2710 is the current naive implementation available in pig distributions. PIG-2831 hasn't been worked on in a while. It mostly needs reviewing and cleanup to be tracked to completion and to get it into a release.
