Rohini Palaniswamy commented on PIG-4708:
-----------------------------------------
Created PIG-4710 to keep track of that. We cannot do that until we officially
drop support for JDK 7 ( as the backport is not official). Even after that, it
will not be that easy as it totally breaks backward compatibility as Pig was
returning jodatime DateTime objects in result and will totally break backward
compatibility for all users who were running pig code in java via PigServer and
accessing results in there.
> Upgrade joda-time to 2.8

> Folks writing UDFs are using more recent versions of joda-time and that
> conflicts with the one bundled with Pig. Would be good to upgrade to 2.8.2
> which is the latest one. I also see some minor bug fixes for JDK 8
> too(http://www.joda.org/joda-time/upgradeto281.html)
