Resolution: Duplicate
Closing this Jira as a duplicate of PIG-5428.
After PIG-5253, some of the issues I mentioned here were no longer valid and
also I was able to upgrade tez to 0.10.2 with
tez.runtime.transfer.data-via-events.enabled set to false.
