@npawar: there isn’t a way to do that automatically in Pinot. You’d have to write some scripts to generate those names and set in the json

@noahprince8: How does Helix handle a server that has all of one table’s segments on it with replica count 1? It seems like it isn’t sending that out to another server when it starts up. It’s just keeping the old dead server in the ideal state. Is there something manual that has to be done?
@g.kishore: is the dead server still part of the cluster?
@noahprince8: Yeah it’s still listed in the cluster manager. But I can’t drop it because it’s part of the ideal state
@noahprince8: But I thought it would get removed from the ideal state when it’s dead? And another server has no segments so can replace it?
@tanmay.movva: You can remove the dead instance and trigger the rebalance endpoint. iinw.
@g.kishore: thats in auto helix mode - in custom helix mode, you need to untag that node, rebalance and then drop the dead node

@g.kishore: you dont need it if you start using logical instance id's
