You may want to call this <bxml:ref id="the id you are ref'ing"/> since this is 
a reference to an existing object. 

Would this still have the limitation of requiring an id to be defined before 
using it?  You could inject a proxy as a placeholder until all objects have 
been created, then fix the references later.
