Hi Chris, I agree completely with you :-) , because in my opinion this is one the the MAIN reasons that a developer choose a RIA framework versus a Web framework: fast interaction with users (and what better than data input and navigation between elements ?), and not only Flash-like effects (but I'm not against them :-) ).
I like your shortcuts for Trees, and you handle much cases than my (simple) proposal ... To the next post ...
