Hi All

Registration for ApacheCon Europe 2008 has now opened, and this year POI should have a decent presence there. So, I thought I'd let everyone know what we'd be up to this year, so you have plenty of time to book your trip before the early registration discount deadline :)

First up, there's a half day POI training session on the Tuesday. This will cover things including:
* the new OOXML support for excel (hopefully it'll be nearly there then!)
* the event user model and missing record aware event user model, which
   allow low memory streaming parsing of excel files
* a review of the excel usermodel support, especially concentrating on the
   handy features that people miss
* tips for doing streaming ooxml parsing for low memory
* powerpoint and word processing
* our new sub-projects for outlook msg and visio
There should be things to learn for both new and existing poi users, so do sign up for it if you can.

Next up, we'll be having a BoF (Birds Of A Feather) session one evening. This'll be a chance to meet up with POI developers and users, find out where the project's heading, get tips on using and contributing to poi, that sort of thing. Oh, and drink beer too, that's also part of it!

Finally, there should be a few developers around during the pre-conference hackathon. If you're interested in getting involved in poi, it's a great chance to get some mentoring on fixing bugs, submitting patches and so on. There's also the chance to get your favourite bug fixed, by being on hand to provide the needed information, problem files, test new code etc.

Hopefully see many of you there!
