Hi Andy,

+1 to the svn move.

The goal of the release is another discussion. I'm sure that plan will include more unit tests. And certainly the quantity and quality of unit tests is a valid consideration on a release or even a beta vote.

I know Yegor plans to complete developments towards the December 1 deadline some time in advance. I'm sure you have noticed several contributions every so often from Gisella Bronzetti. She is along with Yegor and others are working on ooxml support for spreadsheets as the goal.

So, what unit tests do you find to be light or missing? Maybe we can be sure to get those done, and you will then agree.

Do you plan to talk with Sam Ramji of Microsoft at Apachecon New Orleans next week? He is giving one of the keynotes.

Regards,
Dave

+1 to the svn move. -1 to unrealistic and overly aggressive release
date. even poi 1.0 had 4 betas and 8 alphas or so. I will work
towards a legal framework with microsoft by beta 1 in dec (which is
realistic).

Also -1 to any marking as prod until we have adequate unit tests. the
ooxml branch is light in this area today. however I am very excited
by the progress.

Hi All,

POI 3.2 is released and it's time to make the ooxml branch trunk. I'm going
to do that sometime next week.
The goal is to release 3.5-FINAL from trunk by December 1.

The plan is as follows:
- Tag current trunk and the ooxml branch so that we can always revert
 - "svn move" should do the job:

svn move https://svn.apache.org/repos/asf/poi/branches/ooxml
https://svn.apache.org/repos/asf/poi/trunk

Notice, that the ooxml code requires new jars. They will be downloaded by
ant on the first compile/test cycle.
