Just because this has come up, maybe it is coming close to time to make a
major revision. The XML schemas are old, and we are coding to Java 1.6. A
major version change would give us the ability to make some breaking
changes such as replacing XMLBeans, shifting to Java 8 (or even 9), and
shifting to the 4th edition of the schemas. Of course it would be a major
effort to do that, and I am not real sure what we would replace XMLBeans
with. Maybe JAXB.
