POI uses a lot of memory. You can always increase the memory of our JVM. POI is a volunteer project. If you want to work on an enhancement to POI that can lower the memory usage, please do. There are other libs out there too. I wouldn't regard Excel files are as the optimal format for displaying 1000 images - your choice but not the usual use case - in fact, an edge case. -- This is an automated message from the Apache Git Service.
