Bug ID: 70202
Summary: Confirmation requested: Using Apache POI 5.5.1
dependencies in a JDK 21 application
Product: POI
Version: 5.5.1-FINAL
Hardware: PC
Status: NEW
Severity: normal
Priority: P2
Component: POI Overall
Assignee: [email protected]
Reporter: [email protected]
Target Milestone: ---
We are planning to upgrade our product runtime from JDK 8 to JDK 21.
We downloaded the Apache POI 5.5.1 source distribution and built it using
Gradle with JDK 21. The POI artifacts, including poi-5.5.1.jar,
poi-ooxml-5.5.1.jar, and poi-ooxml-full-5.5.1.jar, were generated successfully.
The build also resolved third-party dependency JARs, including:
commons-collections4-4.5.0.jar
commons-compress-1.28.0.jar
commons-io-2.21.0.jar
commons-math3-3.6.1.jar
SparseBitSet-1.3.jar
xmlbeans-5.3.0.jar
log4j-api-2.24.3.jar
Several of these dependency JARs were compiled to target earlier Java versions
(for example, Java 8 or earlier), rather than Java 21.
Could you please confirm whether the Apache POI 5.5.1 dependency set is
supported for use in an application running on JDK 21? In particular, are there
any known JDK 21 compatibility issues, required dependency version changes, or
recommended configuration changes?
Thank you.
