I'm a +1 on the PR and thought the existing naming was ok.

metadata, so "delete metadata" is a bit misleading in that metadata is
still deleted if you have the flag set to false.

PURGE feels accurate enough to me -- I believe the behavior for tables is
the same in that we only delete files off of object storage when a PURGE is
requested and otherwise we just do a sort of de-registration.
