Hi all,

I agree with Mike and Yufei regarding the value of knowing the version
currently being developed. My earlier comment was about ensuring users are
aware that nightly builds will use a specific, fixed SNAPSHOT version, like
999-SNAPSHOT.

I lean towards having a predictable SNAPSHOT version. However, I am also
fine with using a fixed version if it genuinely simplifies the process for
the project (though I'm not convinced bumping the version, as I did for
1.4.0-incubating, is overly painful).

Regards,
JB
