Is there any point supporting ES2 in ponymail-foal?

It would simplify the main code.

However if it is to be kept, any special processing should be moved
into elastic.py as far as possible.

Foal is going to work with 6.x and above currently, it will not work with <= 5.x because of how the document storage has fundamentally changed, from what I can tell. Beginning with 7.x, only _doc is allowed as document type, and things are split into multiple indices instead. _doc is not allowed in 5.x and below. 6.x allows both, as it's where they started phasing it in/out.
