Hi all, Following the recent discussion on this list, I'd like to call a formal vote on graduating Apache Pony Mail from the Incubator to a Top-Level Project (TLP).
Apache Pony Mail entered incubation in May 2016 ā over ten years ago. The project provides a mail-archiving, archive viewing, and interaction service that is actively deployed at the ASF itself (lists.apache.org). The codebase is mature, the project is self-governing, and we see no benefit to remaining in the Incubator. I propose the following: - Graduate Apache Pony Mail as a TLP - Initial PMC: all current committers/PPMC members - PMC Chair: Rich Bowen (Note: if anyone else has a burning desire to do this, please speak up now. Iām willing, if nobody else is.) The draft Board resolution is included below for reference: Please vote: [ ] +1 Graduate Apache Pony Mail to a TLP [ ] +0 No opinion [ ] -1 Do not graduate (please state reason) This vote will remain open for at least 72 hours. Thanks, Rich Draft resolution follows: DRAFT BOARD RESOLUTION ā Establish Apache Pony Mail Project ============================================================= ---------------------------------------------------------------------- Establish the Apache Pony Mail Project WHEREAS, the Board of Directors deems it to be in the best interests of the Foundation and consistent with the Foundation's purpose to establish a Project Management Committee charged with the creation and maintenance of open-source software related to mail archiving, archive viewing, and mailing list interaction services, for distribution at no charge to the public.
