Hi,

Meinhard E MAYER a crit :
Unpacking was extremely slow.
Startup took a few minutes (during which I did not know whether anything is loading).
It takes a few minutes (3-4) to open an existing spreadsheet or presentation, with one

?

warning message:
_XF86BigfontQueryFont: could not attach shm segment.

What are you exactly using : XFree86 (X11) , XDarwin ? BTW...are you using Panther ?

If you're using Jaguar, this version will never work. gcc-3.3 is needed, and I'm not sure XCode for Jaguar use it...
(+ dlcompat + other needed stuff )

Can you please start OOo in a terminal ? I think some library is missing or something like that...

It takes about 30-40 seconds for a pulldown menu to appear.

There's a problem, sure

Memory usageis also excessive.

same thing

I have a Powerbook G4 667 MHz, with 512 MB ram, OS 10.3.8.
Compared to its Linux counterpart, Staroffice-8

Does a Macosx of StarOffice 8 already exists ??

, or NeoOffice/J amd
OOo1.1.2 on the Mac its slowness
makes it unusable.

If you're interested, I have (a long time ago) OOo1.1.4rc for Mac OSX in en-US.

Don't know why this issue is not known by Mac Users...

This version is not yet packaged for en-US locale, but works fine (QA tests are ok). Please let me know if you want to test it. I can package it with Start_OOo for you (and probably some others) as an 114rc.

But, *please*, *for porting tests*, report problems and ask *on this list*, and you'll have answers.

...I don't even know how much are using OOo on Mac OSX, because not enough feedback for problems.

On the positive side:

:-)

1. It does open Wordperfect files.
2. Fonts look good.

Not completely sure : try to use accented chars in filenames, or folder names...Try to use some others fonts, I'm not sure it works neither...

FYI, I have :

1.9.79 : already existing, works fine, really (not patched for accented chars, using berkeleydb-4.2)

1.9.83 (even if 1.9.82 is printed, because ause019 ;-) ), but not yet packaged. This version use berkeleydb-3.2 and is accented chars patched (and use a lot of changes between 1.9.79 ).

Important : for now some changes I proposed are not accepted in the actual form ( install in /Applications, accented chars, correct locale use...),and the packages I propose are not "official".

HTH
