I have the feeling I lost some shell environment variables or
something when I quit my old Terminal shell. Maybe I need to start
over again from the clean m90 source? Or did I do something in the
wrong order (do I need t first run ./bootstrap and then cd to moz and
build mozilla with "build")?
Whenever you open a new shell (i.e. Terminal) you have to source MacosxSetEnv.sh again to get all the needed variables back.

Also, if I am starting over again with clean m90 source, do I need to repeat the step of installing Archive::Zip as in:

$ cd ~/Desktop/680_m96/build
$ perl -MCPAN -eshell
cpan> install Archive::Zip

Thanks for your help. I have never used CPAN before so its yet another
new thing to learn about in the world of multitudes of open sources. I
find it amazing that people can keep track of all of these open source
projects (mozilla, CPAN, gtk, Linux, gnome, etc, etc., etc.).

No, this is a system or at least user wide change. You do that only once.

Best regards,
Florian
